Paul
J. Nelson, M.D.
“Born in Red Oak, Iowa, I moved with my family to Fremont,
Nebraska while I was still young. I attended Grinnell College
in Iowa and finished medical school at the University of Nebraska
Medical Center in 1969. I completed Internal Medicine and
Pediatric residencies in New York City (Harlem Hospital),
Minneapolis (Univ. of Minnesota), and Omaha (Univ. of Nebraska
Medical Center). I also served as an army physician in Washington,
D.C. and San Antonio, Texas. I
am a widower with two children.
I have had the privilege of caring for many patients
since 1975. I appreciated their naming me to the 2004 ‘Best
Doctors in Omaha’ list!” |

Rice, M.D.
““My childhood was spent in Lincoln, Nebraska. Along
with Dr. Nelson, I completed medical school at the University
of Nebraska Medical Center and proceeded to residency training
at the University of Cincinnati Children’s Hospital. I
returned to the Univ. of Nebraska Med Center to complete my
residency, which included a Fellowship in Children’s Rehabilitation
at the Meyer Children’s Rehabilitation Institute.
I began practice with Dr. Nelson in 1975. I am board
certified in Pediatrics. My wife and I have four children and
many grandchildren.” |

Lavedan, M.D.
“My family emigrated to Dallas, Texas from the Philippines
in 1984. My undergraduate years at the University of Texas,
Arlington were followed by a move to Houston for medical school
at the University of Texas Health Science Center. After graduation,
I came to Omaha to complete a combined residency in internal
medicine and pediatrics at Creighton University. In 1998, I
joined Drs. Rice and Nelson at Family Health Care. I am Board
Certified in both internal medicine and pediatrics.
I am married to Pierre, also a family practice physician.

obtained my Bachelor’s degree from Creighton University,

Medical Center, graduating with my MD degree in 1999. I completed

Tenne
ssee State University in 2003, and returned to Omaha to

Joyce
Schilke, N.P.
“I grew up in a farming community near Norfolk, Nebraska.
I attended the University of Nebraska Medical Center and Indianapolis
University for my Bachelor’s and Master’s Degrees
in nursing. In 1972, I joined the faculty of the College of
Nursing at the University of Nebraska Medical Center, and while
there, received a Ph.D. in exercise physiology from the University
of Nebraska Lincoln. After completing studies leading to certification
as a Nurse Practitioner in 1996, I joined the doctors at Family
Health Care. I am also on the faculty of Creighton University’s
College of Nursing, where I teach Nurse Practitioner students.
My husband and I have one child.” |
